Explore official 2024 population figures by district, DS division and GN division across Sri Lanka.
Census boundaries are administrative areas, not mosque territories. These figures do not identify mosque members, worshippers or individual residents. A city name in a mosque address does not establish its GN or DS division.

Counts are persons, not households. “Islam” is a religion category and must not be substituted with the “Sri Lanka Moor” ethnicity category. These are 2024 observations, not live 2026 estimates. GN names retain the English spelling in the source.

Ask the Department about a current registration extract for R/2141/A 112, the approved trustee appointment record and the procedure for inspecting institutional records. Ask the committee for its approved constitution, activity information and any documented jamaat boundary. Request publishable or redacted copies.

A practical path to welcoming families, young people, women, elders and newcomers—online and in person.
Use public area totals to plan capacity. Measure voluntary subscriptions, attendance and language needs separately, without treating them as a census of Muslims or mosque membership. There is no verified public dataset here that assigns every Muslim resident to a mosque. No individual religious profiles or contact lists are collected by this page.
